Finding scrapbook inspiration in unusual places

Published by danahinders at 11:42 am under Ideas and inspiration Edit This

Don’t just stare at that blank page! Make the most of your scrapbooking time by finding design ideas in unusual places. Inspiration can be anywhere if you’re just willing to look.

  • Get layout ideas from your favorite magazines. Fashion, lifestyle, and entertainment magazines can provide just as many ideas as the latest issue of your favorite scrapbooking magazines.
  • Look at clothing with an eye for color and pattern.
  • Go to a fabric store and get samples.
  • Check out paint chips for unusual color combinations.
  • Visit an art gallery and learn from the masters. (Yes, scrapbooking can be an art form!)
  • Notice font choices on advertisements.
  • Interior design can be a source of ideas for combining texture, color, and pattern in your layout.
  • Check out the design elements used on greeting cards. Also, jot down sentiments to use for journaling and page titles.
  • Visit your local library. Notice what book covers catch your eye.
  • Look at previous layouts that you’re especially proud of. Combine elements from two or more pages to create an entirely different idea.
