Ideas for altering old stickers
Stickers are a cheap and inexpensive scrapbook embellishment, so it’s no surprise that many crafters have a ton of stickers in their stash. If you have a bunch of stickers that no longer fit your style, here are a few ways to give them a new look:
- Use liquid adhesive to glue small rhinestones to the centers of flower stickers for added dimension.
- Use sandpaper or a small emery board to distress a sticker for an aged appearance.
- Add shine to stickers by covering them in a thin layer of clear microbeads.
- Create a checkerboard design with cardstock or patterned paper, then place small stickers in the middle of each block. Use this concept for borders, frames, and other accents.
- Magnify small stickers by layering them under clear page pebbles.
- Dust the backs of mismatched small stickers with baby powder and use them to fill a shaker box.
My favorite tip of all time only applies to alphabet stickers. If you have several leftover stickers that don’t spell anything useful, use them to make a customized ABC patterned paper for your child’s scrapbook. This is a great addition to pages about reading or getting ready for school!
